A place for everything and everything in its place. Recently I purchased a house from a person who was a phone call away from being on the next episode of Hoarders. Before we could move in or do anything to the house, we had to go through and get rid of everything in the house. A pile for trash, a pile for Salvation Army, a pile to burn, and a pile to donate to those in need at our church. As we sifted through layer upon layer of stuff, we kept finding the same items in different rooms. We found 27 pairs of reading glasses, 25 sets of keys, 12 tape measures, 8 boxes of trash bags, and enough pens and post it notes to fill a 55 gallon drum. We came to the conclusion that due to disorganization they couldn't find what they were looking for so they just went and bought more. Needless to say, had they been organized, they could have saved enough money to purchase a Disney Cruise.
Ah, but we all have our own idiosyncrasies and levels of disorganization. For those traveling and living in an RV, we have to nip that in the bud. RV life has enough stresses and hinderances on its own that to be disorganized steals precious time and joy from the otherwise blissful situation. The more time you spend looking for that missing tire gauge or the elusive 10 mm socket, the less time you have soaking in the sites and sounds of paradise. The key is to create the optimum organization while maximizing every space available. No clutter, only fun. Less is more!
